Full Swing Spring

Spring is definitely here in Logan. Please disregard the fact that it snowed yesterday, and just look at the pretty pictures below.

I finally found someone who will play racquetball with me! Larissa and I played terribly, but we will get better. Cut me some slack, it's been two years since my last match.

I also went to a ballet--Sleeping Beauty. Ballets are... very interesting. The more I wrote about it the more I think I would enjoy going to another one. But while I was actually there, I found it boring. Why is it that when I have to be cultured I don't want to be, and when I want to be, there's nothing to go see?

Luckily, there is always something to do around campus, especially when you have amazing upstairs neighbors who make you cake. It was absolutely divine.

Now, once upon a time, I was walking home from class, and some random person on the quad shouted, "Baby animals and free ice-cream by the biology building!"
Well, how can I pass that up? So I start walking home, to put away my stuff, when I run into T.Harm. Then we start walking over and run into Nic. And then Kira. And we got all of them to follow us.

And Nic learned how to pick up chicks ;)

And T.Harm got to kiss a goat (or at least pose for it).

And, of course, the ice-cream after:

Nic got a long-boarding lesson...

And we snuck a picture with this awesome guy in a hammock. You have no idea how much I envied him. My hammock is going up as soon as summer officially starts!

And, *drumroll please* it was T.Harm's birthday!!! We woke up, and while she was in the other room, I left her a billion little sticky notes all over the place (most pictured here) ... including on every object in her backpack (not pictured).

And, of course, I made her a cake at Cold Stone!

(Let's go climb a mountain!)

It's been quite a fun couple of weeks. And I finally decided to fulfill my promise to Nate to paint him a picture of Europe. So this is the work in progress.

Have a stupendous weekend!

Ninjas vs Zombies

I decided my blog has been a little dry this year, so I'm trying to do exciting things in my life to spice it up. Tell me how I'm doing ;)

To begin, I received my very first lesson on how to drive stick shift from this lovely girl, Jennifer! She's going to be my roommate next semester, and I'm kind of a lot excited. I didn't stall for the first 15 minutes of driving, and in an hour session, I only stalled thrice. I still don't trust it. Maybe I'll be able to drive in the future, but for now I know that at least I can get a stick shift moving!

I also am extremely close to my goal this year of doing a 5k. Why's that, Kelene? Well, because I accidentally became a runner. I've been cross-training for a few weeks now (because I thought I hated running) but then came my run day. And 1-2 miles just isn't a workout. So I found a nice route that was 3.17 miles around campus and I just thought to myself, "Meh, I'll run what I can, walk the rest". Obviously I don't have much confidence in my physical capabilities.

Well, I began my run, going at a very comfortable pace. And I ran the whole way. It was not nearly as hard as I thought. If I pushed myself I probably could have run it again. Right then. But I didn't think I should over-do it (even though I'm barely sore today) and I, for the first time in my life, got a runner's high. Wow. Wow.

As T Harm said, I've got the bug.

We're doing a 5k next weekend =D
---
For the last few weeks there has been this poster up about "The Last Night on Campus". It's a sort of Zombie choose-your-own-adventure. And finally I decided to do some research. $3, a fun adventure, the possibility to win prizes, and all-you-can-eat Buffalo Wild Wings.

Umm... yes.

So I put together my elite team.
Me, Taylor, Jordan, Larissa, Nate.
And if you know me at all, you know I don't do things half-way. So we dressed up.
As ninjas.

We didn't end up winning (which was terribly sad), but at one point we did have 7 weapons, which was pretty cool. We were only 3 or 4 steps from the end before we succumbed to the disease.

But because we were so dang cool we won a $20 gift card to WalMart, for best style.
Let's be honest, you just can't top ninjas!

And after a very long wait (that, to be honest, was completely worth it) we got our Wild Wings.

On the way home from stuffing ourselves silly, we approached Cold Stone.
Kelene: Does anyone want Cold Stone?
Everyone: ...Are you serious? .... umm...
Kelene: MAKE A DECISION.
Everyone: TURN!!!

And then we got Cold Stone. Because staying up late and unhealthy is a requirement after a stressful week.

Then we played Nerts and watched Frozen, because that's what cool people do.
And let's be honest,
We're pretty dang cool.

Spring Break Part III and End

On the morning of Angel's Landing, we realized we had 9 people, 2 cars, and 1 park pass. We could have bought another pass, but that was $25 and not nearly as adventurous... so we decided to try and cram 9 people into one car. 2 in the trunk, 7 up front.

Yes, we are dumb. Yes, we are awesome.

And the hike began! I was a little bit a lot ridiculously excited.

With some endurance, diabetes, and manly music, we made it to the top. It was not nearly as difficult as I expected it to be, and ridiculously fun. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, not the least for this incredible view:

Then we went to St. George to climb Dixie Rock and watch the sunset from above.

And I totally defaced a rock. Because reasons.

The next morning I decided I wanted to go on one more hike, so I took whoever was willing and hit up the Emerald Pools.

They were stunning on all accounts.

As for the rest of the trip, there's so much to tell, but it's completely ridiculous without being there. Let's just say I laughed so hard on Wednesday night that my abs were still sore on Saturday.

In a series of sentence fragments:
Busted tire. Manventures. Bad singing. Blow out. Yuba Man. Horror Film. Truck Stop. Bad ideas about tires. Wendy's. Frosty. Warm Hat. Chili Beans. What's your favorite color? Ice-cream? It was THAT EXIT! Taylor will make a terrible driving teacher. Detours. KELENE YOU STOPPED SINGING.

Anyway. It was amazing.

And then because sometimes guys can be a little bit much, my roommates and I had a nice girls' picnic on the engineering quad. With finger sandwiches and fruit salad.

And thus ends Spring Break 2014.

It was awesome.
You are awesome.
