Mmm... I do think I'm coming to love Utah

It's been pretty dark lately. Literally. And then one day, coming out of the Geology building, this lovely friend was there to greet me.

Figuratively life is like the Arizona sun; always there, always bright. I am having such a great time in college. Everything is simply perfect right now. I am in love with life.

Another thing I'm in love with is this crazy Utah weather! One day we'll have sunny skies, the next frozen rain, the next crazy thick fog like the next picture. That building is only fifty feet away or so.

Major deja vu just then. Weird.

And I got my "A Memory of Light", the final novel in that monstrous 14 book series. It ended very well. A few loose ends I wish had been wrapped up, but over all very nice. It's about 800 pages. 3 days. Come at me bro.

Another favorite of mine is all the icicles. I love seeing them! And, when Taylor isn't looking, and I'm sure they're pretty clean, I grab them. And eat them :D

A picture from our Ice-Cream "Sunday" a welcome back thing Moen put on for us. I hung out with my ex-roommate Kirsten (And Katrina is creeping to the far left).

This, my dear friends, is what I love most. It was basically a blizzard yesterday, and this was the result:

Did we have a snow day? NOPE! Of course not! This is Logan, you pansies.

Also, this is what happens when you leave your bike outside during the winter.

Now, yesterday (Sunday) I was at church for a grand total of 7 hours. Seven. I was the only one here from the presidency, so I was called to go to Ward Council at 11:30. That led into the block. Then home for a quick bite and back for auxiliary training. Then choir and ward prayer, haha!

At choir, I decided I needed to make an effort to learn the names (and get to know) some of the people in my ward! Let's see how many I can remember (not that that means I can recognize their faces)...[also, the spelling might well be atrocious]:

Sopranos: Lindsey, Crysta, Kelene
Altos: Deanna, Mariah, Amanda, Carol, Savannah
Tenors: Tony, Nick, Cole, Isaac
Basses: Chris, Taylor, Enoch, Bub, John
Director: Maddie
Piano: Jake

I might be missing a few. 'Don't hurt me!'

And my apartment totally got called out on being anti-social, so when I found out red-headed Taylor was delayed and wouldn't get back until way late and called a rain check on working out... I decided to socialize!

I went over to room 103 [a.k.a. the awesome room] ate peanut butter cookies, watched Tangled and played Ninja Destruction until 12:30. It was a perfect use of my time.

Also, shout out to Tony Pham who got baptized this past Saturday! You Rock!

Over and Out.

PS- One final shout out for my wonderful Grandma "Nanny" Fletcher. She was called to the Sacremento, California Mission and leaves in April. I am so proud of her. She's a great inspiration to me. I love you, Nanny!

Questions, Part VIII

 36. What is your favorite verse(s) of the Scriptures?  Why?
Enos 1:27. It was my favorite the first time I read it, and I'm not really sure why. Here it is:
"27 And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say unto me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father. Amen."
I mean. It is such an eloquently beautiful verse. Enos is at peace with his creator. He is rejoicing that he may now return home, and meet his Father. It is a verse of unparallelled peace, and fills me with such each and every time I read it.

37. What do you enjoy doing on a rainy day?
Ah, rainy days. A hold-back from my childhood in Arizona is that I get positively delighted when it rains. It's such a magical thing, and all it makes me want to do is curl up next to a fireplace and read. Which I do, when I can. If I can't, I walk around with my biggest umbrella, smiling like an idiot.

38. What do you look forward to the most?
Probably being a Wife and Mother. Is it getting boring that I keep saying that? I know it is incredible hard and both require an immense amount of work (in infinite ways) but I really look forward to it. I want to measure up. I want to take all of my fears and insecurities and throw them away and in twenty or thirty years look back and realize that I was just fine. I can be a good mother. I can be a good spouse. I'll make mistakes, but I'm beginning to realize that I can be incredible. In anything that I choose. And I choose this.

39. How much sleep do you need?

Trick question. I have no idea how much sleep I need, but I usually want 8 hours. If I decide I need sleep, heaven help you if you keep me awake. Its terrible that I'm a light sleeper, with this attitude, but luckily I've adjusted to earplugs, haha.

40. What do you believe to be your spiritual gifts?

Spiritual question day, huh?  Well, It talks about spiritual gifts in Moroni 10, 1 Cor. 12, and D&C 46. I've read them before, of course. Something that hit me in a read-thorough was this statement:
"13 To some it is given by the Holy Ghost to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he was crucified for the sins of the world. 14 To others it is given to believe on their words, that they also might have eternal life if they continue faithful. "
I don't get impressions and promptings (so far as I can consciously tell). I have never heard the 'voice' of the Holy Ghost. I've had one instance in my life where I just knew, but never before or after that. But what I do have is the gift to believe. I know that the history of Joseph Smith is true and correct, not because I have had personal revelation telling me so, but because I believe those who have had it. I cannot accept that they would lie, just to fool me. I believe on their words, and if that is acceptable to my Lord, than it is perfectly fine with me.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to my blog. It feels like an eternity since my last (life) blog post, but really it was only 2 weeks. To begin, here is my finished bowl. I love it. With a passion.

My first day back to school, I made salsa! Did you know you can make a big bowl of salsa for only $3? I might have a new addiction.

Also, this is me messing about with my new watercolor paints from Grandma Fisher!

This past Saturday I had a rather fun-filled time. I was planning on studying all day, but then peer pressure and laziness took its hold. I had a LOVELY day!

First was crepes! I made them for my roommates, past and present (at least, those that showed up).

And, since it has been snowing SO MUCH lately, we decided to go sledding. We bid farewell to the wall snowman on Moen...

All bundled up and READY TO RUMBLE!!!!

Here's the hill. Old Main hill. Doesn't seem like much, eh?

Well you just watch. This is me and Taylor going down on our bin lids (who buys sleds, I mean, really?)

Then Taylor decided she wanted to try a piece of cardboard she found on the edge of the 'track'.

Yeah, it didn't work at all. And here is James and Katrina going down...

We made snow angels in foot (plus) deep snow as we were heading back. The snow was ridiculously fluffy, and SO MUCH FUN.

Post sled mode :) We warmed up with delicious hot cocoa and watch the Count of Monte Cristo!

And that's my life. In other news, you remember the 30 days drawing challenge? Well here are days one through six. Self portrait (meh), Favorite Animal [snow leopard] (I did a great job), Favorite food [enchiladas] (meh), Favorite Place [Temple. I don't have a favorite, but San Diego was a challenge to draw] (I did good), Best Friend [Taylor, at least, up at college] (I was happy with this one), Favorite fictional character, no movies [Kaladin Stormblessed] (bleah. I think he ended up looking like a really depressed Nicholas Cage).

It's been really fun doing this, even if I feel a bit squished with all my classes. It's a grand old time though.

Mailbag!

Do you know that since I started this blog I have not done a single mailbag? Sure I could update you on my life, but who does that, seriously? I'm bored and I feel like writing nonsense (or, mostly nonsense), so here goes:

Dear Snow,
I love you. For reals. I do so enjoy tromping through you in my snow boots and eating you (even though Taylor thinks it is nasty). I love how you sparkle and make everything so pretty (except the parking lot; That's just nasty). I do wish you would have the consistency to make a decent snowball. Or better yet, snow more, so that I have new fluffy snow to go sledding down Old Main on. Maybe you could talk to management?
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Roommates,
You are awesome. I like how we all get along and we have a quiet little apartment (even if one of you is the RA). It's really fun living here. And Taylor, I think it's pretty fun to brush my teeth with you too :P
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Textbooks,
Do you know how much I don't like you? I mean, first of all you cost a boatload of money, and then I have to spend hours every day actually reading you? Well, Macroeconomics, at least you are interesting.
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Aggie Hat,
You are seriously my favorite. You have a big A on the forehead, and you are toasty warm, and have awesome ear flaps... but could you make me look ANY more like a total geek? No. I'm just letting you know. That's why I take you off whenever I'm around people. I need to be honest. It's not me, it's you.
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Workout Buddy (you know who you are),
Thanks for not letting me be a total lazy bum. If it had just been me this morning, I would have gone back to sleep. But I didn't! Because you were there! And we are going to be totally buff by the end of the semester.
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Returned Missionaries (that just moved into the ward),
Yeah, Brother Gines told me about you.
...
Hi :)
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Eggs and Oatmeal,
I think I've gotten over my disgust of you. I... I'm ready to let you back into my life.
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Spellcheck,
Really? I am pretty sure I've had this computer long enough that you should know my name is a WORD. Seriously, get it in your head.
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Sweatpants,
I knew it. I knew it. I knew that if I bought you I would become addicted. And I was right. You might be the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. And that's bad. Because while you don't look bad, you don't necessarily look good either. And I really do love looking good. I might have to put you away for a while. Still, remember I love you.
Sincerely, Kelene

Dear Institute,
Thanks for being so awesome. I've been to a few of my classes, and despite the trepidation that my family seems to feel at me taking 4 classes, I think it's going to be a great year. and I'm pretty sure you have convinced me. I was feeling really wish-washy about going on a mission, but I got my answer. This is happening, and I can't wait :)

A Challenge

No, it's not a challenge to you. It's one for me. A drawing challenge. Because, of course, what else should I be doing the first month of a new semester? DRAWING OF COURSE. Here it is:

It's pretty much awesome. I will begin tomorrow. I hope you all enjoy this. I'll post the pictures every few days. Or whenever I feel like it. I do what I want. :P

That's all. I just wanted to let you know what I was up to.

A New Year

This is going to be a rather long post, but worth it. I've had a rather wonderful time lately. Also, this is my first blog post for 2013!

To start, I got to hold my newest niece. May I introduce you to Raelynn Redd Fletcher!

And, while moving my sister Krystal, my cousins and I had the opportunity to help them catch her goats! It was overly dramatic and way more fun than it should have been.

And I played racquetball with my wonderful friend Michelle. We played a long, 15 point game (she won), a lightning round (5 points) which I won, and a left handed lightning round, which I won again. It was great, especially the parts where we would just stop and dance crazily to Gangnam Style or The Final Countdown.

This is our "game face"

And how would a blog post be complete without some mention of Cason? I had the best time blowing bubbles for him on Sunday. I was getting some major size on those things. My bubble blowing talents are wasted on the young!

Then, on New Year's Eve, I drove (all by myself, which is impressive because I haven't driven much in the past four months or so) to Mesa. It was a very enjoyable drive, even if it was raining (seriously, the one day it rains in Arizona?). Still, the desert was beautiful.

And who says we don't get snow in Arizona? As I drove past I was smiling and all giddy because I got to see snow. I didn't realize it would be this addicting.

In Mesa, the first thing Elizabeth showed me is that she had learned to juggle.

And then things escalated and, like any grouping of women, strange photos happened to be taken.

And we played air hockey and darts at Rachel's house. I beat Liz in both... by one point.

I may have won, but Liz is the better model.

And I insisted that she play the piano. There is nothing I love better than just sitting and listening to music. Liz is embarrassed by it, but I think it is just grand.

We went to Nielson's Frozen Custard, as we usually do. I just couldn't stay away from fry sauce for that long!

Also, we all got fifty cent ducks. This is Fillmore. :)

And this, my friends, is why I go to the Gunnell's on New Years Eve.

And I destroyed my friends in (Star Wars) Monopoly, which is the only way to win in any case.

We went to a party and played Just Dance 4. One of the most entertaining things about the game is watching teenage boys half dance-half not and just look overly awkward about the whole thing.

Here we are getting ready for midnight! It was me, Liz, Livvy, and Rachel; My three best friends in Mesa, Arizona.

We made our New Years Resolutions, one of which (for all of us) included being more healthy. Here is 11am the next day, us working out. It was great. And the warm sun made it all the better!

I also gathered a few of my favorite quotes from these past two days:

Liz: All these people crapped really parky!

Liz: He'll just be my purse duck.

Rachel: My stomach is the size of two chalupas.

Kelene: Ugh, darn stickers! Thank goodness for free ducks!

Rachel: Ew. They're kissing. Gross. (during the ball drop)

The following occurred periodically during the monopoly game with Liz and Livvy (who are twins)
Liz (to Olivia): I hope you rot in jail!!!

(When I convinced Olivia to sell me her expensive blue property if I forgave her debt to me)
Liz: What have you done?!
Livvy: I'm broken!

(When I convinced Elizabeth to sell me a full set if I forgave her debt to me)
Liz: She broke me, Liv.
Livvy: What have you done?!

In essence, I love my friends. And I miss them. And I am glad I can come back after months of absence and simply fit right back it.

That's all. Happy New Year :)
